An umbrella baby stroller is ideal for quick shopping trips or zoo adventures. These strollers are lightweight and easily transported in the trunk. Since we live in a downtown apartment, my wife and I decided to invest in a umbrella stroller for Samantha once she turned 6 months.
We decided to go with the Macleran Triumph
because it met our needs:
It is very portable and light
Folds easily and does not take up much room
Has a carrying capacity of 55 lbs
Has a waterproof hood (perfect for our downtown living)
Reclinable and weighs only 11.5 lbs
We are very satisfied with this stroller, but with so many to choose from, it's only fair to take a look at a few more. One of my favorites is the Valco Baby Latitude
stroller.
This baby stroller reclines from a flat to an upright position. It weighs 19lbs and has a baby weight capacity of 40lbs, which is a bit less then the maclaren stroller we looked at earlier. I know a lot of parents complain that their lightweight stroller does not have enough storage
capacity. I guess the Valco
is in a league of its own since it has a roomy basket. It's durability and adjustable handlebars tell me that it's a high quality stroller as well.
If you have a larger budget, you should definitely consider the Micralite Toro Stroller.
It is known for it's excellent steering and maneuverability. When folded, it will stand on its own (perfect for those tiny apartments/restaurants). In addition, the inflated tires will assist you going up and down stairs.
As you can see below, it looks pretty cool/trendy.
But that's obviously a secondary factor. Safety and reliability (just like a quality crib mattress) are always the top priorities.
