Standard Crib Mattress Size - Not Always the Case
Last June, 20,000 Simmons mattresses have been recalled as they did not meet the standard crib mattress size regulations more details.
This was obviously a manufacturing error. It proves that we cannot always trust the manufacturer or sales associate to sell us a safe product.
Often times they are not even aware if there is a problem with their product until something happens. That’s why we must be diligent and always check ourselves.
Just bring a measuring tape to the store or measure the mattress once it’s delivered if you buy it online.
In the above case the mattress was less than 27.25 inches (69cm) wide and a baby became trapped. This could have been avoided if the baby's parents just checked the width of the gap between the mattress and the crib rails
